From dated pharmacy house to contemporary vacation home

Taste the vacation spirit in every room

A West Flanders pharmacy home from the 1990s received a thorough refresh and now exudes quality, tranquility and comfort. With a limited budget and the challenges of the corona period, we created a summer retreat that is an ideal base for biking and hiking enthusiasts.

Downstairs, the kitchen received a fresh new look. The original layout was retained, but new cabinet doors, veneers and a microtopped countertop provide modern elegance. The fine gravel floor in epoxy is a nod to the nearby beach. All practical necessities – from coffee maker to pepper mill – are provided and within easy reach, making guests feel immediately at home.

Even the dining room now exudes the atmosphere of a summer by the sea. By combining earthy and sandy tones with some color accents, indoors flows seamlessly into outdoors. A touch of Ibiza-style and Vincent Sheppard’s chairs enhance the vacation feel. The space forms a harmonious whole with the living room, which has both a TV corner on the street side and a cozy fireplace on the garden side.

Bed, bath & beyond: creative solutions in any space
The design of the bathrooms is both functional and authentic, with materials such as microtopping and Floorify tiles. Since the property is intended for rental, smart choices had to be made: the existing baths were retained and were complemented with unique and authentic washbasin furniture to create a new atmosphere.

Each bedroom has its own identity. Innovative solutions such as a wooden back wall with built-in reading lights and outlets optimize the use of the space. The children’s room is a play and sleep paradise, with a custom-made bed for five and enough storage space for an entire weekend of adventures.

The result: an atmospheric and luxurious vacation oasis for twelve, where taste and functionality go hand in hand.
