The sun is starting to shine again and summer is coming. The ideal time to give your vacation home even more cachet and to decorate your garden and terrace in summer. Because your vacation home deserves an outdoor area where you can really relax.
Whether you have a small city garden or an expansive stretch of greenery abroad, my tips will bring peace and atmosphere to your outdoor space.
Tip 1 – Create an oasis of calm.
Whether you have a large garden in the countryside or a cozy little city garden, it is important to create an oasis of tranquility. This is how you escape the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life.
How do you do this?
You do this by extending the color palette of your interior to your garden.
Think of warm earth tones or soft greens, also in your cushions, flower pots and accessories. This creates a harmonious transition between inside and outside, making your cottage an extension of your living space.
Tip 2 – Choose sustainable materials
Garden furniture often stays outside for a long period of time or all year round. Therefore, it is important to consider the material you choose. For example, aluminum and PVC garden furniture are rustproof, and require little maintenance. Materials such as rattan and wicker have a natural look and require only annual maintenance. Hardwood garden furniture, such as teak and cedar, are tremendously strong materials, but require maintenance several times a year.
Choose the material that best suits your style and willingness to maintain.
Tip 3 – Bring greenery to your patio
Plants bring atmosphere and make your terrace lively. Even on a terrace without much greenery, you can create a natural look by working with outdoor plant pots. By adding a mix of large plants and smaller, sophisticated varieties, you bring depth and variety to the space.
In addition, you can enhance the green atmosphere with outdoor accessories. For example, think of cushions and side tables in shades of green. This will give your terrace a fresh and harmonious look.
TIP 4 – Work with color tones and texture
Choose a color palette that you personally like. It is best to choose some natural shades and one shade that is a little brighter. This way you can easily create a whole. Once you have established the colors, you can match your accessories such as pillows and plaids accordingly. Using different textures also adds to the atmosphere. Think of a soft garden rug, wooden side tables or rattan lamps. These details make your patio personal and inviting.
Good luck with the above tips and enjoy the sunny days!
